CHUTNEY MARY NEWS

From 1 to 31 July Chutney Mary will be presenting a Showcase of Unusual Kebabs and Biryanis as everybody loves grills with exotic marinades, especially in the summer.

In Indian cuisine kebabs, as grilled items are called, are a very specialised form of cooking.  In the first half of the twentieth century Royal households in India kept many kebab master cooks in their kitchens, each one specialising in one or two kebabs, and these master cooks were secretive and never revealed their spicing secrets to anyone.

Contemporary India is still enjoying the discovery of old guarded recipes.  Innovations have been in the realm of seafood kebabs and vegetarian kebabs as this is what more of people desire.

In our showcase of unusual kebabs we bring you some new kebabs our chefs have created, as well as a couple of the most popular classics.  They include a steamed chicken kebab marinated in mango mustard; a fish kebab basted with butter and crushed pepper; a chicken kebab grilled and then tossed with crushed spices – cumin seeds, crushed chillies, coriander seeds.  Traditional favourites such as lamb seekh kebab, but with a slight twist.  A duck version of the melt in the mouth legendary galouti brought back by special request.  As always, we offer a vegetarian kebab selection.

Kebabs go well with biryanis.  So we offer a South Indian coastal version of lamb biryani and a chicken biryani with fresh fenugreek and mint leaves, plus a monk fish biryani.  Plus, of course, a biryani with summer vegetables.

This summer we offer jellies with a floral accent of elderflower, violet and lavender jellies.  The summer drink specials are the orange mojito and a fresh pineapple cooler.

Chutney Mary has also teamed up with the exclusive Hurlingham Club to do large scale Indian catering events - weddings, receptions etc at the stunning spaces and grounds at the Hurlingham. For further information email your request to info@realindianfood.com.

VEERASWAMY NEWS

Veeraswamy’s sumptuous and stunning 80th birthday transformation has been much acclaimed. The restaurant on the first floor now has its own street entrance as it had when it first opened on the ground floor.

The new menu offers covers classical dishes, comfort foods and contemporary creations, all from the North, South, East and West of India. We offer some dishes not often seen in Britain.

Veeraswamy has been named as one of the 10 Best Destination & Special Restaurant in the World by National Geographic – the highly respected Travel and Geographical Magazine.

This award is in the new edition of ‘National Geographic’s 10 of the Best of Everything’ which is sold world wide. There is no other restaurant from UK in the top 10. In giving this accolade, National Geographic described Veeraswamy as follows:

"Undoubtedly the best Indian cuisine in the world. The menu features classical dishes from throughout India as well as contemporary creations prepared by a team of regional specialists, each producing their own specialities. The restaurant’s décor is equally spectacular"

The party room is one of the most glamorous in London. It is one of the few restaurants of that period in London that reflect the traditional true-to-its period décor albeit in a manner that does not seem out of place today.

Veeraswamy is the ideal location for visitors to London in the heart of the West End. It is also the perfect lunch venue with a light airy room located on the first floor overlooking the buzz of Regent Street.

We have a good value lunch and pre/post theatre set meal option of £17.50 for 2 courses, in addition to normal à la carte menu. (This is available Monday-Saturday).

There is a special Sunday menu consisting of Indian family favourite dishes. At Sunday lunch we have a fabulous offer of £24 for a 3 course meal for you to select from the Sunday a la carte menu.
