CHUTNEY MARY NEWS From 1 February to 7 March Chutney Mary will be presenting a Showcase of delectable dishes from Goa. Goan cuisine is one of the most exciting among the Indian cuisines. It is famous for its whole repertoire of seafood, as well as coconut based curries and of course is the home of the vindaloo. They brought to India from the New World the red chilli, the tomato, the use of vinegar and contributed to creating the alfonso mango. The cuisine this created was a blending of these products, the spices of North Kerala which abuts Goa, and the produce of the surrounding countryside of Konkan which bases its cuisine on rice, the freshest coconut, seafood, tamarind and herbs such as coriander and curry leaves.
Goan specialties on the menu will include squid Goan style, the famous Goa prawn curry, green chicken curry, masala roast duck, the lamb shank shakuti and several others. A special cocktail served will be with muddled fresh lime, mint leaves and vodka, known as ‘Goa on the rocks’. Chutney Mary has also teamed up with the exclusive Hurlingham Club to do large scale Indian catering events - weddings, receptions etc at the stunning spaces and grounds at the Hurlingham.
